Mostly Modern Festival 2023

Mostly Modern Festival 2023 has come to an end! I’m so thankful for all the music we made together and the memories we shared. Thank you to everyone involved at MMF for helping me learn and grow so much as a musician in these three weeks.

Thank you especially to the low brass for becoming such a supportive and amazing group of friends. I had so much fun playing with these OUTSTANDING musicians in the back row, and I’m all the better musician and person for it. Thank you for all the music, laughs, memories, and terrible jokes, and I can’t wait to run into you all again somewhere down the line.

This festival was such an enjoyable time for so many reasons. The faculty was outstanding in every regard, and the overall vibe at the festival was incredibly supportive, welcoming, and productive. I also loved that this festival focused on the music of living composers. There are so many ensembles and festivals that already focus on the music of the western canon, so it’s incredibly refreshing to be in a place that prioritizes the music of living composers from a diverse range of backgrounds.
